Fight Terrorism with Knowledge: STR 2016 Conference, 7-8 November in The Hague

Join us from 7-8 November 2016 for the Society for Terrorism Research (STR) 10th annual international conference. Hosted in The Hague by Leiden University, STR 2016 will highlight cutting-edge research on terrorism and counterterrorism by scholars from across the globe. More than 60 presentations spread over this two-day event will discuss a range of topics relevant to understanding and tackling the key societal challenges that terrorism continues to pose. Through presentations and panel discussion, researchers as well as counterterrorism practitioners and policy makers will discuss topics such as countering violent extremism (CVE), the challenges of reintegrating back into society (former) extremists, lone actor terrorism and the foreign fighter phenomenon.
STR 2016 is honored to welcome five distinguished speakers who have made outstanding contributions to the study of terrorism in its various forms. Professor Jessica Stern from Boston University, Professor Rik Coolsaet from Ghent University, Professor Rogelio Alonso from Rey Juan Carlos University in Madrid, Dr. Thomas Hegghammer from the Norwegian Defense Research Establishment (FFI) and Dr. Paul Gill from University College London.
In addition to highlighting world-class research, STR 2016 also aims to foster greater communication and exchange of ideas between academics and practitioners and policy makers engaged in detecting, preventing and responding to terrorism. In short, this is an event not to be missed by anyone involved in researching or tackling terrorism.
